Supplier Management

Hi all,

Is there any mechanism that allows suppliers to get access to only "Supplier" contexts and nothing else in Windchill?

The purpose is to allow access to only "Vendor Parts" that is tagged to the supplier. This is needed to share "Released" Parts, documents, drawings and the necessary information to manufacture the part  , this may vary between suppliers.

Thanks & Regards

Hari

Hi there,

If you've managed your setup properly with context-specific access that should be very easy. With our combination of Profiles and access-by-role, anyone who isn't directly put in a context team will never find that context or anything inside it. So in your case you would put the supplier user accounts only in the contexts you want them to see (likely in the read-only Guest role) and leave them out of everything else.

Double check your Policy Administrator rules, and make sure you don't have something like WTObject, ALL principles All States set to Read or something. Make sure that only the Administrators get Omni-access and that only Team Members get Read access to all objects, which restricts people to seeing the contexts they are members of.

Is there any mechanism that allows suppliers to get access to only "Supplier" contexts and nothing else in Windchill?

You can define a specific role for your suppliers on Site level (RoleRB.rbInfo).  This role should have its own access rights defined in the Policy Administration.  For each Context, you can assign the specific suppliers to that role.

The purpose is to allow access to only "Vendor Parts" that is tagged to the supplier.

On top of that, using the Security Label functionality, you can assign suppliers to each object individually.
