Windchill PDMLink 9.1 M050
I am interested in hearing how others have allowed guest users to create
workspaces. My definition of a guest user is someone who has read and
download permissions only.
Windchill seems to need a modify permission in order to allow a workspace
to be created. The problem is when you have a guest user that needs to
connect to Windchill, create a workspace, add object(s) to the workspace,
and then open these objects in Pro/Engineer. I don't want to give my
guest users the modify permissions in order for them to create a workspace.
I simply want them to be able to open object(s) in Pro/Engineer, view
them, export them, etc. Just not be able to check in anything.
I have thought of a couple of different methods that might work:
1. create a "Guest" product in which guest users have modify permissions.
The sole purpose of this product is for guest users.
2. In an existing (non guest) product give the guest user modify permissions on
a life cycle state that is not used in any of the lifecycles defined
for objects in that product.
I have opened a call with PTC on this issue however their statement is that
"Workspaces are not supported for guest users in Windchill". Not much help...
So like I stated above I am interested in hearing how others have accomplished
this task.
Thanks
