Hey Windchill-ers!
Recently, the Windchill entry on Wikipedia (for the PTC software, not the meteorological term) has been removed. To maintain a neutral point of view and to avoid conflicts of interest, we (PTC) cannot re-create the page. To ensure that we best adhere to Wikipedia’s policies, we believe the content should be created by others. For information on creating a Wikipedia article, read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to:create_a_new_wiki_page

Hi Scott,
I wouldn't mind creating it for the Windchill community, but just wanted to know why the previous entry was removed. So that we can tell the other community members about "Not To Dos".

Hi, Anand.
I head up muchof the social media efforts here at PTC, so I thought I'd chime in. If you go the former entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windchill_(software)) you'll see that it was considered to be too much like an advertisement.
If the content is written by non-PTC peopel (an 'agent of the company', to use terminology that Wikipedia does), then a more neutral point of view is likely to surface, and it reduces/removes potential conflict of interest.
Here's a cached view of the page from Google, if you are interested in seeing the prior content: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:uAKF6EXbj10J:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parametric_Technology_Corporation+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
I'd be more than happy to write the Wiki entry for that !$^#$^^*#%!!!.....
If you asked me to have my genius code-jockey friend specifically write a worse software I don't think even he could do it........
