What is the purpose of the ESI Author and ESI Administrator group

Greetings,
We are having a debate at to the need to have users assigned to the ESI Author vs. granting all users permissions via policy administrator.

Is there other uses for this group that justifies the added work of adding users to this group?

Thanks in advance,
Cam

Hi Cam,

If you using Windchill ESI ( Windchill and ERP integration), these ESI groups are usfull.

ESI Author is to publish Windchill objects to ERP only. ESI Administrator is to add/update the DT. and also terminate the ESI process and transaction etc..

warm regards

Hi Cameron,

If the user is not in the ESI authors, the transactions resulted from his release work (promotion requests, Change notice, set state) will fail due to permisions.

Instead of setting dedicated access control rules, it is much easier just to those users to the group.
