Hello,
we are upgrading to Windchill 11 M010 from 10.2 M030.
But while Windchill 11 Installation, it is getting failed Failed with Error "Password validation failed. The password does not meet Windows policy requirements because it is not complex enough" although we are providing complex password. This error comes while new DB schema and user creation in Sql Server 2012.
When check PC knowledgebase, found that this issue is know and it is a PSI bug and SPR is filed for this issue. workaround is to disable the domain password policy but unfortunately it is not possible in our environment as domain controller person said no for disabling this policy.
PTC is saying they do not know when it will be fixed. But we had shared server upgrade rollout plan to all stake holders and now we are delayed by two weeks.
Is there any follow members who also found this issue while upgrading to Windchill 11 M010 with SQL or Oracle server?
Also is there any workaround or solution apart from disabling the password policy?
Thank you all,
Regards,
Shekhr SIngh
Disabling the password policy is the easy way. It is also possible to manually create the user and the schema yourself and then just pass these to the installer. Take a look at this article: https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS28197 Technically it's for 10.2, but it should get you going in the right direction.
Hello Tom,
First of all Thank you for the reply.
Unfortunately disabling password policy is not possible in our environment as of now.
Also i found this article for manual db and user creation. But was not sure same setting will be applicable for wc 11 or not. So i asked ptc will it work if we create manually db user and assign settings suggested in this document. PTC said they will check with r&d, and i am still awaiting for their reply.
One more point i would like to add that with psi, db schema is getting created but it is failing while user creation.

shekhar
Assuming we're talking about a remote SQL server here, all the PSI really does (when run on the SQL server) is create the database itself, create the Windchill user, and give it permissions. All the of actual data creation (tables, procedures, etc.) happens from the Windchill server during the normal installation process. If you can create a new empty database and the appropriate user, you shouldn't even need to run the PSI on the SQL server.
