Windchill PLM is it possible to make a downloaded file unusable after a certain period of time ?

Version: Windchill 12.0

Use Case: People are downloading document from Windchill and they keep them in their local computer instead of downloading them again each time. this leads to error in document version?

Description:

we'd like to add an expiry date to documents downloaded from Windchill, making them unusable after a certain period of time.
For example, if a production technician downloads a work instruction from Windchill, it would be unusable 24 hours after downloading.
Is this possible in Windchill?

thanks in advance

I know that Adobe has a DRM (Digital Rights Management) tool and there was an integration with Windchill or Creo. The concept is similar to what you are asking where files can be blocked at a time period of your choosing after creation or on demand. I would look into that.

Best case is to prevent the files from being downloaded in the first place, if possible. We had a similar scenario with technicians and made a solution where they were only able to view the files via a web viewer. I think that involved developing some customization, though.

Hi,

Can this requirement be fulfilled if they are made to use Navigate instead of Windchill ? In Navigate we can prevent downloads and make viewable only in the App.

Cheers

Hello

thanks for your answers.

Actually, Files have to be downloaded by users because they have to be fill in some production information (Batch Nb, Serial numbers...).

As the file is constantly changing, we do need to ensure they are not keeping it in their computer.

They have to download the file quite each day.

What about watermarking them with the download date? and having an included statement something to the effect of "Document valid for 24 hours from XX/XX/XXXX HH:MM:SS"
