Question

Nvidia Quadro K2000M graphics problem

Hi ProSys guru's

Hoping someone has already solved this problem and can help.

We have a new machine, a HP Elitebook 8570W i7-3740QM CPU @ 2.70 GHz with 8
GB RAM and with Nvidia Quadro K2000M updated to the latest driver
9.18.13.1143

OS is Windows 7 64 bit SP1.

We are working in WF2 but are in the process of migrating to Creo2.

In WF2 the real problem is in drafting mode when double clicking in a table
cell to enter data, ProE crashes. It also crashes if one tries to amend the
text of a dimension, or to edit a note outside of a table. All modelling,
assembly, EMX, and tool design modules seem to work fine.

Other symptoms are when WF2 starts the display flashes once for an instant
as the program splash shows and then the program opens normally. Also
dragging a dialogue box (eg create point) over the main graphics area
leaves a "trail" of the box behind it which then refreshes as you let go of
the mouse.

None of these problems are seen in Creo 2.

Anyone else seen this?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Steve,

I do not have a specific suggestion for your WF2 Drafting issues (Its been
years since I was on WF2), but maybe your problems are all related because
of the old software with a newer OS.

I seem to remember back in the WF4 days that there was an option for "Show
Window Contents While Dragging" that needs to be turned off. You can
find this in -Control Panel - System - Advanced System Setting -
Performance - Settings.
Find the option and uncheck the box.

While your there, you may want to just turn off all the "Eyecandy" and see
what happens. Hit the button for "Adjust for best performance"

Good Luck

Hi,

I can’t remember exactly but I had a similar problem in WF2.

The problem was coming from font directory.

When you double-click in a cell, ProE load fonts list and that cause the
crash.

This was solved when setting proE font directory in different location that
Windows\fonts.

Hope this help,

Hi Bernie,

Thanks for the help; we knew the option existed and spent a long time
looking for it with no success. You instructions took us straight there.
Unfortunately it didn't prevent the crashing but has removed the trail of
the box which is good.

Best regards

Steve
