Civil Engineering Solved Problems

Civil Engineering Solved Problems

I went onto the MathCad Resource Center on their website.

Then I click on "Books."

Then I see this one book called "Civil Engineering Solved Problems."

So I have MathCad 14 on my computer. I tried to download this book and then it wouldn't run, since this book was saved in an older version of MathCad.

How do I solve this issue? I want to run this book, for I am a civil engineering senior

With some of the older EBooks (they possibly try to find a Mathcad2001-directory and refuse to install) it helps to rename the .exe to .zip and manually unpack the content in the Mathcad 14 handbook directory.

I have tried the way suggested to rename .exe to .zip but it still didn't seem to work. Is there another way to install this in MathCad 14?

Many thanks,

It depends on how the zip program tries to handle it. I use Filzip (because it's powerful and free!). Filzip will not extract it, but oddly will convert it to another format, such as tar. That can then be extracted. Here are the files.

Attached find the ZIP-File with the unnecesary setup-files removed and rezipped.

Inside this archive you find a file named "civeprobs.hbk" and a directory "civeprobs" with all the mcd-files.

Copy both, the "civeprobs.hbk" file and the whole directory "civeprobs" into the handbook-directory of your Mathcad14. This is exactly what the setup routined tried to do but failed, because it was not able to find the handbook-directory for Mathcad2001 which it was written for.

So you have to copy the files manually. The handbook-directory usually is

C:\Program Files\Mathcad\Mathcad 14\Handbook

Good luck
