more pen table / line weight questions...

Hi all,

I can fill in the specifics of the issue if needed, but this might be easily
answered from a general sense.

"Where" are the line weights of the system colors linked to the pen
assignments? I imagine there is a text file (like a .pnt or .pcf or .col,
etc.) that lives in a folder somewhere that controls the designation that I
am showing below linking "sketch" entities to "Pen 6 or Pen 1" and likely
the color as well.

I know how to change the width of the pen. (table.pnt)

I know how to change the color of a sketch. (syscol.col)

But what I am struggling with is why (HOW?) is a Sketch assigned to "Pen 6
or Pen 1" and which is it and how can I force it to be only "Pen 6"

Any ideas or insight here?

WF5 Creo Elements Pro.

Thanks a lot.

-Nate

Two different issues here.

1.) There seems to be built-in (hard coded) default line weights for each pen number. Using a pen table file will allow you to change the line weights for all entities that plot with that pen. Unfortunately, using a pen table to assign a line weight will override any other line weights you've manually set (think borders in a drawing, etc.) For example, if you use a pen table file to set the line weight of pen 1 to 0.010", but have a geometry line (which prints with pen 1) on a drawing that you manually change the line width to 0.030", the line will print at 0.010". When a pen table file is in use for a particular line color, the actually width of that particular line in Pro/e is completely ignored.

2.) There also is a built in default pen mapping table. (See /fundamentals/fund_two_sub/Specifying_a_Default_Pen_Mapping_Table.html<http: %3chelp_loadpoint%3e=" fundamentals=" fund_two_sub=" specifying_a_default_pen_mapping_table.html=">).">http://<help_loadpoint>/fundamentals/fund_two_sub/Specifying_a_Default_Pen_Mapping_Table.html<http: %3chelp_loadpoint%3e... Even though the file listed in the help documentation isn't actually in the text folder, the system behaves as though it is, making me believe that it's hard coded as well. You can of course create your own pen table, and map specific functions to individual pens (See /fundamentals/fund_two_sub/Assigning_Colors_to_Another_Pen.html<http: %3chelp_loadpoint%3e=" fundamentals=" fund_two_sub=" assigning_colors_to_another_pen.html=">).">http://<help_loadpoint>/fundamentals/fund_two_sub/Assigning_Colors_to_Another_Pen.html<http: %3chelp_loadpoint%3e=" fundamentals=" fun... To answer your last question, to make curves print on pen 6 only you will need to enable 8 pen functionality (set option use_8_plotter_pens to yes - mentioned in the first link above)
