Advanced Assembly

Our license at work has one seat of Advanced Assembly, but I'm not sure what it is exactly or if I have used it. Is it something separate than the typical assembly dashboard? Is it referring to the mechanism options that are available in the assembly dashboard? Thanks!

The modules I have are AAX and BMX. Anyone know what they do?

Cynthia, The X stands for extension in both cases; there are other extensions besides these two, discussed in a Forum thread a couple of months ago. You have the Advanced Assembly Extension and the Behavioral Modeling Extension. You can get some more info on the PTC site, but they are not good at giving you a tabulated list of what detailed additional functionality is gained with each Extension (probably because that would also constitute a list of what they don't give you if you don't purchase one of the expensive Extensions). With Advanced Assembly, for example, you can use the full suite of Large Assembly Management tools such as Pro/Notebook (a.k.a. Layout) and Skeleton Models. David

David lightly touched on the advanced assembly topic, but certainly there are a lot of tools avalable for assemblies using the advanced module. You need it for large assembly management and top down design based on PTC methods. You can use skeleton models, more power on simplified reps and etc. BMX is related to an analysis package that can iterate for best possible solutions to a design; based on you inputs and measures. It would be hard to cover all of the uses on these extensions, but try searching around the PTC support pages for some tutorials and if you have access to PTC university then that would really answer what these can do for you.
