Animation, Changing Colors with Time?

I know that you can change the transparency of an object during an animation, but does anyone know how you can make and object change color during an animation?

So far the method I know is to capture individual frames from the screen and create an animation from those. By building from individual frames, one can control any characteristic, such as color, or by altering dimensions or parameters and regenerating.

Automation via mapkey or by creating trail files is possible.

As far as I know transparency works because it doesn't alter the part data, only the presentation on the screen. Color, model values, and the like, currently require altering part data and so aren't in the animation workflow.

You can use view states and trick the system. You would have multiple versions of the part you want colored and turn one off and the other on during the sequence.

Be careful with transparency; it only works on parts that are assigned a color to the whole part. Surface appearance changes are ignored.

Managing a comprehensive animation can get a bit overwhelming. View states is one of the things that helps many aspects of the process.

Does color by family table work using material?

On the PTC User forum I was informed that it absolutely did work and that I was wrong to suggest that it did not. At this point, either way, I'd be delighted.
