Hi Folks, Back in October of last year I sent out an unsolicited message suggesting that the Tristar Quick Reference Guide for WF5 was a good idea as a handy reference for even the most hardened ProE warrior (Creo warrior does not seem to have the same ring to it). This message is a rehash of that.
No change in my mind about the usefulness of this QRG but I just saw an email promo from them for these books at USD50 (from USD150) so assuming everybody can access that special price then it is a good idea to have one or more depending on your company. We have five WF5 QRGs altogether amongst 12 major users.
Once again I confirm that I am in no way associated with Tristar other than as a user of some of their product.

P.S. Thanks for those that have sent messages of concern about the earthquake in Christchurch (the location of the main facilities of Tait Radio Communications). All our 650 or so people are safe and their families too. Tait is open for business but management have told people to look after their families first and to help neighbours too before worrying about getting back to work. Older parts of the city, which tend to be in the centre, are badly affected as is infrastructure such as power, water and sewage. Huge efforts by local people, other New Zealanders and teams from many other countries (including the USA) are being put into the rescue phase of the event though many of those listed as missing may be dead. Heroic efforts on the part of utilities companies in fixing and reconnecting services is going on but some will take many months to fix.
As I work remote from Christchurch there is little I can practically do. I am comforted by the fact that the New Zealand police use P25 radio products supplied by Tait (in open tender) and that this system is working exactly as expected so that while cell and land-line phone systems had immediate problems the police were able to keep communicating and start organising straight away. Since then Tait has also supplied extra equipment for Civil Defence and Red Cross to use and are targeting the first production back underway to support as well.
Nothing like a major catastrophe to put life's problems into perspective.
