Assembly to step file

Hi guys

im trying to save an machining assembly file to a step file. Trouble is when it's opened in another software the whole assembly becomes one part and single parts can't be recognised,I just saved a copy to a different directory as step file not sure if that's the correct way?

thanks mick

Hello Mick,

you may want to try with alternate STEP formats (conveniently by setting config.pro option step_export_format).

I believe the default ap203_is does not offer to select the file structure. But if you use a newer formats, like ap214_is, the Save As dialog contains the additional option File Structure. The default is "Single File", but you can change it. This will generate multiple files and may allow to load the parts one by one in the other application.
