Automated Publishing Issue

Automated Publishing Issue

There is a known problem with republishing in Creo View upon check-in when a lower level rep or family table instance is swapped into an assembly. Is anybody aware of a work around for this issue? We aren't too excited about the prosepct of revisiting all of those replacement items and publishing each one of them as needed.

Thanks in advance.

Tom, can you give an example image showing what you are referring to? There are quite a few limitations in regards to simplified reps in the publisher. My interpretation of what you describe is in the attached picture for the simplified rep setup with family tables. Is it correct? Also need to know if you are publishing as standard, positioning assemlby or extended positioning assembly.

Bill-

The issue is that if I publish everything from a top level assembly and then replace a sub-assembly with a rep of that sub-assembly, it does not automatically publish...forcing us to revisit those items.

PTC is aware of this shortcoming, and has a work around...but they have not shared that with us.

I appreciate your thought on this.

PTC's work around is called Positioning Assemblies. There has been a few
great presentations over the last couple years at PTC Live Global.

Tom,
Most companies are using a parameter in the CAD assembly to trigger the positioning assembly type publish when the user checks in the model. We have the parameter added to our start assembly file.

You can run a quick evaluation as an organization admin or site admin using the following steps to manually have the WC publisher publish an assembly as positioning assembly or even extended positioning assembly.
