BRAVO, PTC

For as much griping there is on this group, I have to send a shout out to
PTC on this one.

I had a hinge that I had to delete from my assembly. The hinge is attached
to the body & the door by bolts, nuts & there are reinforcement plates
behind it. All of these pieces of hardware are assembled to (ie, children
of) the hinge, and are in a group, with all the other hinges' hardware. I
dragged the hinge down through the model tree to the group called
"hinge-hardware" and expected the drag to stop me there and indicate that I
couldn't drag it past the group containing its children. Instead, it pulled
the children out of the group and dragged them along with the hinge, so at
the bottom of the tree I had the hinge and all of its associated hardware in
one place for easy deletion. I don't know how long this functionality was
in there (we're on WF3), but I just discovered it, and it is awesome.

Since we've moved to recent versions of Wildfire, I'm loving the ability
to copy and paste features (or groups of features) between models,
combined with the Advanced Reference dialogue box.

We work with a lot of closely-related models, and sometimes I don't have
to re-select /any/ of the references to copy new features into another
(similar) part.

I like this functionality almost as much as I like Reference Patterns!

The ability to copy features from one model to another has been a part
of Pro|E for many revs prior to WF1. I know I used it back on 2000i,
maybe before. Oh, it wasn't as easy as copy - paste, but it was quite
straightforward. Instead of a dialog like in WF, Pro|E would prompt you
one reference at a time for the matching reference in the new part. It
did not, however, attempt to match references in the new art to the old,
you had to pick all of them.

Is WF an improvement? Absolutely, but it's not new functionality. 😄
