We are in Creo 9 and I have a very strong feeling it is possible with a config option to set the number of decimal places only for the tolerance of a dimension independently from the dimension setting itself.
Currently our decimal places setting by default is shown on this pic. Although our config doesn't contain the default_dec_places option but the default value is 2:
And compared to that I would like to set the tolerance decimal places to 3 instead of "Same As Dim".
I can hardly imagine there is no config option for that, for example dim_tol_dec_places or something like that.
Of course I've done some research and found these articles about tolerance decimal places, but as I understood these are not what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance,

You can set the number of decimal places for the dimension tolerance values independent of the number of decimal places of the dimension value. The number of decimal places for both the upper and lower tolerance values is controlled simultaneously.
By default the tolerance decimal places value is driven according to the linear tolerance settings. Set the tol_num_digits_default_driven configuration option to no, or specify the number of decimal places for the tolerance values in the Precision group in the Dimension ribbon tab, so that you can modify the tolerance decimal places value.
Does this config option not address the issue?
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
As I understand and also tried it out now this config makes the tolerance decimal places "independent" from the dimension itself. That's halfway there, now instead of Same As Dim, I have two decimal places. This is how it look like with only that config:
Now I do miss another config option to tell Creo, I want my tolerance decimal places with the value of 3 by default. That is what I am missing atm.
I couldn't find the option for that one..

When you begin creating a model, Creo Parametric uses default dimensional tolerance values. Therefore, you must specify default tolerances beforehand by setting the configuration file options linear_tol and angular_tol. Using linear_tol, you can set default tolerances for integer dimensions as well.A linear dimensional tolerance does not have to have the same number of decimal places as the dimension. That is, dimensions can acquire tolerances that have a higher significant number of decimal places (num digits).
Hi,
I think configuration options mentioned above are related to ANSI tolerances. If OP uses ISO tolerances then tolerance values are driven by tolerance tables.
