Copy Paste widh list: From - To

Hi all,

Sorry to bore all of you with this very old and tread upon subject. But I did a search on PTCUserfor "Copy Paste" to find out if my question could be gleened from previous posts. However, 14.3 trillion posts regarding Copy Paste was reported and I realized it would be faster to ask a new question.

Why isn't there functionality within Copy, Paste, Special that allows "From-To"? I have a known point and I want to copy it to another known point. Due ot corporate TDD requirements, I cannot have a dimension governing mounting locations within part files as allthose are driven in the skels and brought in via ECG. The quilt I want to copy and paste has 13 features comprising it. I need four of these identical quilts to create my mounting hole configuration. Four is not such a big deal. But what if I had 20, non-patternable identical features? That would be a painful day.

Have I missed the "From-To" boat somewhere along the trip?

I use copy è paste special è Advanced reference configuration

A separate window will open that allows you to select which references that you would like to change (they will default to the original if you don’t select a new one). If you select more than one feature it will only prompt you for the unique references.

Everyone has quickly responded that copy, Paste special, advanced options is the answer. Sadly, it is not the answer.

Paste Special essentially allows, translation and/or rotation via dimensions orselecting refs to replaceand/or use again. There are some variations to it, but this not the what I am looking for.

The best way to describe what I want to do is a UDF without the UDF. Upon placement of the UDF it asks for specific references and will "assemble" and complete itself with those refs. In its pure form, a UDF is for multiple, repeating things. Yes, it will work for what I need. But it leaves the UDF "out there" in the aether that will have to tag along for the ride for the life of the part. In the end, I may just use a UDF. But as I was creating the quilt I realized I would like to move its completed form and solidify it in multiple locations.

If Paste Special had "From-Ref> To-Ref" and allowed the selction of a featureor group of features, life would be good.
