Cosmetic thread printing

I am new to Creo Parametric 4.0, and I was wondering if 3D printers print cosmetic threads on parts, or if the threads have to be modeled manually to be printed? Thanks.

Cosmetic threads in the model are only a revolved surface.

For 3D printing, you'll need to model the threads...possibly a helical sweep, depending on your specific thread form.

Do you also have to model the threads in a hole, or will it make them automatically if you choose a standard drilled hole size?

Hi,

all threads created by Creo automatically are cosmetic features, only. They do not represent real solid geometry. If you need to 3D-print real thread you must create it in your model using solid features.
