Creating a Surface From Points

Creating a Surface From Points

Hello,
We have a balloon-shaped structure, for which we have a couple of 2D
drawings. The 2D drawings show curves describing the shape of the balloon at
a number of sections. One 2D drawing shows sections in the X direction, the
other in Y.
From these curves, a colleague has, by measurement, using a rule on a scale
plot, derived a number of points, each defined by XY&Z coordinates.
We created points in Pro/E WF2 using these coordinates and, Lo and Behold,
we have a bunch of curves in pro/E.
Unsurprisingly, the rule and plot method does not yield a terribly accurate
picture - some of the curves do not intersect other curves perfectly. As a
result, when we try to join the dots to make a surface, we either get little
creases and nooks and crannies, or we encounter a steadfast refusal by the
program to make a surface at all.
Is there a way, within Pro/E, to make a 'best fit' over all these
points/curves, or do we have to edit each point's coordinates until they
meet perfectly? That would be a lot of points!

I'm sure I know the answer, but hope springs eternal...

Cheers,

John

I believe that pro-scantools module will do what you need. Otherwise,
some other surface-based modeler would be used to do a 'best-fit' of a
contiguous surface through these points, curves...
