Creating more than 15K holes

I have requirement of creating 16K holes,

Trying to I create  using pattern. Creo is getting very slow and crashes.

Also Tried to make lightweight, which is not useful as I need to calculate mass properties

We can make these holes read only, but we need to create first..

Thanks for help

Regards

Gouda

Hi,

in 2011 in ProE WF5 I tested the ability to create 139*208 pattern of square slots. ProE was not able to create 28912 identical instances.

PTC Support told me that ProE is not able to solve such huge patterns. Their recommendation was to split the pattern into several smaller ones. This means (in your case) to create 4 pattern by 4000 instances.

If you can upload your model, maybe somebody can give you some useful advice.

This may not be as many as you were looking for, but a great example of patterning lots of holes:

Thanks, Dale

Something else to look at is the old 'Turbo Pattern' technique (copy and paste a surface, then pattern the copied surface, then solidify it, and ref pattern the solidify).  Apparently this may now be the same thing as the 'Geometry Pattern' option - not sure what version this is in (Creo 2?  Creo 3?).  It was known to be significantly faster than patterning the original feature.

Jonathan,

'Turbo Pattern' technique shows a creation of hundreds of geometry items. I think 16000 items is quite different situation...

Do you have some example model containing such huge pattern ?

I'm not suggesting that it can do any larger number than a 'standard' pattern; but perhaps in addition to your suggestion of 4 patterns of 4000, it should reduce regen time (significantly).
