Did You Know? PTC Creo 3.0 Edition!

Yesterday at the PTC Live Global event in Boston, Brian Thompson, VP of PTC Creo Product Management, officially announced PTC Creo 3.0 to the world. For those of you who could not make it to the event, here are some of the main highlights:

Unite Technology:

With Unite technology, CAD data of varying formats may be used directly within PTC Creo; enabling optimal multi-CAD collaboration and consolidation for users. With Unite technology, you can:

  • Import common 3D CAD formats: SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Inventor, Solid Edge
  • Open key 3D CAD formats: SolidWorks, NX, and CATIA
  • Automatically update new versions of non-PTC Creo data within your designs
  • Save As in key 3D CAD formats: SolidWorks, NX, and CATIA formats

The resulting benefits for users include the ability to efficiently convert non-PTC Creo data, easily incorporate non-PTC Creo data into existing designs, create and maintain design intent between PTC Creo and non-PTC Creo formats and easily share PTC Creo data in the most common CAD formats.

Concept Design Improvements:

A major improvement in the area of concept design is the brand new PTC Creo Design Exploration Extension (DEX). PTC Creo DEX is a dedicated tool for enabling the quick and easy investigation of alternative concept designs within the parametric environment. Using “checkpoints” PTC Creo DEX eliminates the need to manage multiple versions of data and allows designers to move seamlessly back and forth between design branches. Key features include:

  • Efficient design branching
  • Seamlessly integrated into PTC Creo Parametric
  • Freely experiment with a variety of design alternatives, modeling approaches, or change consequences
  • Store exploration content in a single encrypted and compressed file for documentation purposes and transfer

PTC Creo Efficiency Improvements:

Several new features and enhancements across the product suite to improve your productivity, including:

  • New getting started experience with a revamped Help, using custom Google search functionality and a 100+ what’s new videos available on Learning Exchange
  • New PTC Mathcad Integration with PTC Creo Parametric
  • Extensive hardware libraries and automated fastener assembly workflows
  • Redesigned edit references functionality
  • Improved graphical realism
  • PTC Creo Flexible Modeling Extension enhancements in tangency propagation control and patterning
  • Core modeling enhancements including  a new chordal round option
  • Enhanced contact and friction analysis in PTC Creo Simulate
