Drawing Changes-Are all changes identified

At our company, we are currently reviewing the process used to identify changes (ex. notes, dimensions, assembly parts, BOM's, etc) in the Pro/E drawing. Identifying drawing changes is critical for vendors during part fabrication, assembly & inspection.

Our current process is to show the current revision level, enclosed by a diamond next to the change (ex. dimension, note).

Our internal drawing standards states that if a significant number of changes is required on the drawing (more than over 25% of a drawing is changed, resulting in 20+ changes) the note Revised & Redrawn should be placed in the Revision Block Description of change. The note Revised & Redrawn typically results in 100% part inspection.

Some options currently being considered are:
1. No change from the current process shown above.
2. Identify 100% of drawing changes with a diamond next to each change.
3. Use new methods based on available technology
ex. Utilize Acrobat Reader (PDF"s) to create several drawing overlays. One overlay to show changes in red, and another to show original non-changed drawings in black. Note: This technique being discussed, but, will probably require some experimentation before this is viable.

I what like to know how other people are handing the decision to identify all or a partial amount of changes to a drawing.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Gaston LaChapelle

Look into ProductView tools that do drawing comparisons.
