Drawing Mode - switching parts

wf4

I have a drawing set up using file1.prt. Is there a way to use the same drawing, but swap to another part (file2.prt)?

To give you an idea of what i have, it's a drawing that shows 6 parts from a family table created in file1.prt. I'd like to keep the same drawing/template format for another part (file2.prt) which also has a family table of 6 parts.

Assuming you are not using a PDM system:

Clear your session (erase not displayed)

Open file2.prt

File>rename>

BE SURE TO SELECT THE "in session" RADIO BUTTON (not the in folder button)

Rename (in session only) the part to file1.prt

Open the drawing file1.drw

Rename the drawing (IN SESSION ONLY) to file2.drw

Rename the part again (in session only) to file2.prt

Save drawing file2.drw

Save part file2.prt

Clear your session again and check your work.

If you make a mistake, it is probably recoverable - but a PITA. So proceed
cautiously but with no fear. Pro/E can sense fear.

Don't forget to SAVE when you're done - these new objects only exist in
session.

Don't forget the "in session only" radio button. That mistake will be the
hardest to recover from.

Good luck.
