Summary is that they are rolling all their various modules into a package called Creo. They say you will be able to buy only the modules you need. Oh, and modules are now called "apps." They also claim that they plan to have, by next year, capability to load any cad model 2d or 3d to Creo and it will be interoperable. After data is in Creo, it will be changeable by any user and uploadable to any Creo app. They claim any BOM from any system will be usable in Creo.
No mention of projected cost per app of course.
No mention of maintenance costs of course.
Suite of software is not complete now, but they say next year it will be. Uh, right. (must be taking marketing cues from GM, like the Volt marketing)
No mention of length of support in future for ProE.
There were many good ideas and goals presented, whether they will make it work to the breadth they say, and be affordable remains to be seen. Sure was a lot of rah rah rah marketing BS there though too. They are obviously targeting people enamored of "apps" on other brand's products and Microsoft Windows etc. As to webcast, the first half hour was a waste of everyone's time in my opinion. If I want a drama show I'll turn on the TV.
Just my $0.02.
Oh and my acronym suggestion - Can Reality Ever Occur (at PTC head office)
