Easy method of renaming 850 axes created using a pattern table?

I'm looking for an easy or automated method to rename approximately 850 axes (which were created within a part using a pattern table).

The axis names take on some form of a name amended with the idx number in the table.  Unfortunately the table only allows for numeric idx values.

I'm looking to rename my axes, AAA, AAB, AAC, AAD, etc...

Other than manually renaming these features in the model tree, I haven't been able to find a better way.

Any suggestions are welcome!

I would create a VBA routine that creates a mapkey or trail file that does the rename. Alternatively, check Jose Costa and his Trailmaker utility See the end of Re: Trailmaker 0.3

This is based on the assumption that pattern table axes can be renamed.

What are the name of original axis?
