Helical surface using trajpar

Helical surface using trajpar

I want to make an auger type surface and I cant remember how to set up the
relation for trajpar. I am trying to use sweep to get straight line
trajectory create a helical surface. Sketched section is straight line
with length and angle dimension. I set the relation to sd4=trajpar*360*5
so that the surface will twist 5 times around during the sweep trajectory.
However it does not work for me. I am going to search for the old files I
know where I have seen this but I thought the group would be quicker.

Thanks,

If I remember correctly, I think you want to sketch the centerline of the auger first, then use a 'variable section sweep' in which you use the first sketch as the trajectory and sketch your profile as you have above. as long as sd4 is the angle dimension, you should be fine.

I just learned about this parameter in a surfacing class, so hopefully my suggestionsare not overly obvious (or wrong for that matter). Is your trajpar parameter in the sketch that you are trying to control, or in the model (needs to be in the sketch)? And I am wondering if you should just use a standard helical sweep? Isn't it the Helical Sweep itself the command that controls the pitch? I thought that trajpar changes the shape of the profile along the trajectory? Goood luck.
