Hi Everyone,
Here's a video tutorial, showing you a graphical method for calculating curvature, its titled "How to make sense of Curvature in PTC Creo". hopefuly you guys can learn a couple of tips. in case you liked the video, please make sure to add a rating or "like" the video. Any comments or questions are welcome.
Thanks.
With 3 points, you're only getting an average of the 3 radii. If you wanted a circle with that radius, I'd creat a line notmal to the spline, thru that point, and use a relation to make the radii equal.
Frank, this is a method of calculating radius of curvature geometrically. can you elaborate more on your suggestion?
Nice work Solidworm. Wildfire/Creo is all about geometry but there is very little information on how to use geometry within the program. Your video was very helpful.
Thanks
Actually Frank, with 3 points you get a Unique circle. When you have 4 points, you get 4C3 circles or 4 possible circle. Generally, while inspecting the size of a cylinder, 4 points are measured in a plane and the average of 4 circles is taken for size.
This is my understanding.
Its based on the equation number (4) here:

Sirini is correct, 3 points define a unique circle.in the equation above, think of t1,t2,t3 as points offset ratios. by selecting them close enough as seen in the video, Creo draws the circle and we can mesure the radius or curvature.
