I'm putting together a guide (http://communities.ptc.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadBody/3791-102-1-4861/ImportExportGuide.xlsx) for what formats and settings should be used when exporting and importing between various CAD programs. Right now I am working on ProE/Creo and SolidWorks, but would like to see the community help expand this to more platforms, as well as for everyone to provide what input they can from what you know, research, or experiences.
You can see this is very rough. I've looked at lots of different resources and have yet to figure it all out.
Some assumptions;
- Newer formats (protocols, editions, conformance classes) are generally better than older ones. (This is one reason I'm looking at the various STEP protocols and not IGES.)
- Things like SW inability to import ProE Assembly level features rules out direct native opening ProE assemblies in SW.
I’d like this to be a living document we can all use and provide input to. Hope this motivates some of you to help out

You are a braver man than I, Dan. Good luck on this. Do tap into the Creo information regarding interoperability:
