Importing Unigraphics files into ProE.

You might have to purchase a module for UG data exchange. I seem to recall that from my Pro E pre-sales days years ago.

You need to buy the UG interface module that allows you to open the files directly.

How about SolidWorks.is there a module for this as well?

_____

Creo Elements/Pro Interface for SolidWorks
The Creo Elements/Pro Interface for SolidWorks is an import-only ATB-enabled processor, which can read parts and assemblies from SolidWorks 2008.

Processes, Initiatives, and Best Practices

Benefits and Description
This interface is included in the base package of Creo Elements/Pro. It requires an installation of SolidWorks 2007 or 2008 or the freely available SolidWorks Explorer 2007 or 2008, on the same machine as Creo Elements/Pro. The Creo Elements/Pro Interface for SolidWorks does not require a SolidWorks license. If SolidWorks 2007 is the latest installed version, you cannot open SolidWorks 2008 files. You can import into Creo Elements/ Pro 5.0, earlier releases of SolidWorks files that are upward compatible with the configured SolidWorks version.
Creo Elements/Pro Interface for SolidWorks is an ATB-enabled processor and supports import of exact geometry, density, curves, and colors. Batch import of SolidWorks files is supported using Distributed Pro/BATCH.
The benefits of Creo Elements/Pro Interface for SolidWorks are:
* Data exchange is simplified by eliminating the need for SolidWorks users to generate a nonnative format.
* Quality of imported data is improved.
* With ATB technology you can check for incremental changes and easily apply geometry updates.
* With ATB technology you maintain the highest possible associativity between imported geometry and downstream features.
* With Distributed Pro/BATCH support, there is automatic bulk import processing without manual intervention.

Creo Parametric 3.0 is supposed to be able to open native SolidWorks files (and even update when the underlying SolidWorks source file changes) without any additional add-ons.

What is this world coming to!!!! It's anarchy...opening native SW files in Creo.....that's just wrong.

Not only Solidworks but also NX and Catia so for the original post if you can wait till after June when Creo 3.0 is first released it will be possible to open NX files directly.
