Measure volume of formula-driven lattice

Hello, 

how can I measure the volume of  formula-driven lattice?

Assuming that you replaced a body with the lattice, then you can measure the volume of the body directly. Use the measure volume function and select the body.

Only in the case of formula-driven lattice the measured value is 0.
How can I solve it?

Is the example you are testing solid geometry? I can not tell from the image. I do not have the Creo extension to create the lattice so I cannot test this. Can you post the model so it can be queried?

The lattice is represented as voxels.

So how can I transform it into a solid body to obtain volume and mass properties?

Thanks for posting the model. You are using an educational license and your files cannot be opened with a commercial license so I can not see the part. I suspect it is related to the voxel rep but I am not positive about that.

 

I am not finding much at all about the voxel properties in the documentation. If I find something I will post it.

I have found something that is probably relevant. I would suggest contacting PTC support as well as following this thread. 

 

  • Geometry generated by Formula Driven Lattice Feature is not Solid BREP one and not merged with original model geometry

 

If your lattice is represented by surfaces and it is not a closed quilt you will be unable to calculate the volume. You can test this by attempting to solidify the quilt, if it does not work then the most likely cause is that the quilt is open,

It will be difficult without the geometry but I can try. Post an image of the same green shaded one you placed earlier but set the display to wire frame. Any open edges should be a different color. I may be able to tell if it is open from that image. The area I suspect is open is at the interface of the body boundary (the faces of the rectangle that you filled with the lattice).

I am trying again to calculate the volume of the formula-driven lattice structure.
If I select the entire model from the tree, the software calculates the volume (Image1)
If I select the body, the software gives the result 0 (Image 2)
This could be a solution, but the file only needs to contain the lattice structure.

I am speculating that your model is comprised of surface geometry only, no solid. Bodies can only include solid geometry. If Body 1 has no geometry then the volume is 0 when selecting the body. In an expanded model tree you will see features contributing to a body and I do not see that in your tree in the picture you posted.

 

Creo will calculate the volume of surface geometry (the part) so you are getting a result when selecting the model. Please investigate this and report back with your findings.

 

PS: The colors in the graphics window have meaning based on your system colors configuration. This will allow you to visually confirm surface vs solid geometry by viewing in wireframe display.
