Model Name vs. X Name

When you open something new you choose a "Name" and a "Common Name." When you save what you've been working on you have a "Model Name" and a "New Name." What's the difference between the two Does it have to do with my assembly lighting up red with "Retrieve missing component" options? Any help would be appreciative.

all three are different Andrew

1.) the first is about your components are missing from your working directory.

the parts with which you have made the assembly may be in some other folder.

2.) "save as" save a copy of your part or assembly that is why it asks for a new name/

3.) at the start, the name option will be the name of your part or assembly for drawing. I think the common name is for Windchill.
