Multi-model drawing templates.

Multi-model drawing templates.

Is there a way to create a drawing template that can reference more than one model? For instance, I have created a multi-sheet template I want to use which references some detailed views of and assembly (part with inserts installed), some detailed views of the rolled form of the part, and some detailed views of the flat form of the part. I have 16 of these to do which are roughly 8-10 sheets each.

Or do I have to create one drawing like I want it, edit the trail file with the new model names, and run that trail file to quickly create the drawings with all the views?

Regards,

Patrick

Or is there a way to change the model reference of a drawing view to a different model which is not a simplified rep of the same model? For instance I create the drawing using the template I have created, let it put in all the drawing views, then just point the views I need changed to the different models to those other models.

Short of deleting the drawing views and adding them back using the correct model.

You can merge drawings; create a temporary drawing with the template you like and then merge it to the target drawing.

How does that change the model files relative to each view?

Since you cannot change the models files in each view, it's a way to get what you want.
