This may be a Windchill setting. Here, we are able to rename file only if they are new. Once a file has been checked into Windchill, only a Windchill admin can change the name.
@ptc-4926154 I've never had any luck with trying to rename Windchill objects from Creo. Using let_proe_rename_pdm_objects yes lets Creo makes a copy instead of actually renaming anything. According to CS222524, let_proe_rename_pdm_objects is not meant to be used in a connected Windchill session and may cause problems if your company uses Windchill Autonumbering to name your CAD files.
@kdirth This will depend on your company rules if objects checked into the Windchill Commonspace are allowed to be renamed. Our company allows users to rename objects checked into the Commonspace up until the object is released. This rename command needs to be launch from the Commonspace (search results, Product folders, etc.) not the Workspace. Many users think renaming Commonspace objects is not possible since they using they only try to initiate the rename from the Workspace (which from some reason is limited to only rename new objects in the Workspace).
