PRO_MP_MASS

HI All, we recently moved to Creo 2 M030 and we are seeing issues where the Pro_MP_mass is not updating

If we do a mass properties analysis on the model a value is shown, when we look at the Mass properties parameter it is 0

We use this parameter on drawing formats and now are showing 0 kg as the parameter is 0

Have tried with different materials etc to eliminate the material file

I am sure this used to work correctly - Anyone seen this

I'm not sure if this will solve your problem, or not, but you have to run the Mass Properties that is under File>>Prepare>>Model Properites.

Here is the mapkey I use to update the Mass Properties. When this is done, my drawing values do update.

mapkey rmp @MAPKEY_NAMEWill Update Drawing Values;\
mapkey(continued) @MAPKEY_LABELRun Mass Properties;~ Close `main_dlg_cur` `appl_casc`;\
mapkey(continued) ~ Command `ProCmdMmModelProperties` ;\
mapkey(continued) ~ Activate `mdlprops_dlg` `MASS_PROPS_lay_Controls.push_Change.lay_instance`;\
mapkey(continued) ~ Activate `mass_prop_dlg` `CalculateMPPush`;\
mapkey(continued) ~ Activate `mass_prop_dlg` `OkPush`;\
mapkey(continued) ~ Activate `mdlprops_dlg` `DlgClose_push`;

Thanks...Brian

I presume that you have the option "mass_property_calculate" set to automatic?

Chris,

I have reproduced the same issues with Creo 2 M020 and WF4 M170.

We do not plan on using the config setting mass_property_calculate due to
large and/or complex assemblies. Below is an email from PTC with my
responses in red.

I found a documented resolution to your first issue (updating the
PRO_MP_MASS parameter). Here are the steps:

1. For a currently open part run Analysis > Mass Properties > Compute
current analysis for preview > Accept and complete current analysis. The
parameter should now update.
Creo 2.0 M020 ran step 1, with and with out regenerating after analysis
and reported Mass Properties parameter PRO_MP_MASS does not update.
Parameter PRO_MP_DENSITY updates as soon as the material is set with out
a regeneration.

It DOES NOT work correct in WF4 either. File, Setup, Material, Assign
New Material, Regenerate Part, Analysis, Model, Mass Properties, Compute
current analysis for preview, Accept, Regenerate, Tools Parameters,
Reported Mass Properties, PRO_MP_MASS is still the same

2. To resolve the issue going forward, add config.pro option
'mass_property_calculate' to 'automatic'
Raytheon as well as other companies CAN NOT have this config option set
due to working with large assemblies and performance issues. According to
the Creo 2.0 Configuration Options PDF dated May 2012, it states that when
set to "automatic" it only updates when regenerated.

Hello,

I have some parts within mass is not calculated anymore.

Material is assign but all pro_mp_*** stay at zero value.

However, when I look at Analyze / mass properties, I get a mass.

I can't understand what is the problem.

Is there a setting that I must change ?

Thanks for any advice,

GB

Hi Georges,

Check that your config.pro has
mass_property_calculate automatic
(not by_request).

Alternatively, if you go deep into the part properties you may be able to find Generate Report, which will update the mass parameters manually.

HTH,
Jonathan

Thanks very much,

It’s fine.

I don’t know why and when I’ve changed this setting

Georges
