Hi,
I´m new at creo 10.0, I have the task to find a solution for my problem. I have to find a way to build a part, which I can use as a reference model for the moulding process. The model have to be extern the real original cad model and bring some declerate references such as dimensions, surfaces and datas. Important is, the original model do never change, if i will work at the new copy model.
Do anyone know a way, how I can do the implementation ?
Thank you very much
It is not totally clear from your post exactly what the requirements and design intent are in your specific case. Assuming that you have the license required to use the top-down design tools, from your description I would say that using an inheritance feature would work for you.
For molded parts it is typical to use the master model merge technique where you will have the option to either use the merge or inheritance options. You should review both approaches.
To Create an Inheritance Feature
Refer to this previous thread for some details on how inheritance features work.

In our casting die designs, we create an assembly that contains the customers un-touched model(s) as well as our model that we use in the tool design. In the attached picture "convert", we have the customers cast and machined models. In the attached picture "multiple-revisions", we have several revision levels of the customers part in the assembly. The attached assembly is an example of this structure. This is just an example of what has worked for us - not the only way to do things.
Thank you very much for your answer and this model idea. i will test it but it´s open a new question. Do you get the customer part with shrinkage or whitout.
When I model this part byself, I think I have to need the model with shrinkage to use the kopy geom and the solidify. Next step is to build the mold tool with a negative of the part.
At my first step, I have the problem, thats if I change the Ref.-Model. all Ref.-declaration which I define before are lost and I have to do so much new references of all further steps.
