Performance benchmarking objects?

For people posting on these community forums about CPU / graphics / memory / disk performance problems, it is really hard to tell what they are talking about or to what extent they are having problems, especially if everyone is using a different set of project files, possibly with vastly different design requirements and complexity between each other.

,

Are there benchmark objects available somewhere, so that when people talk about "slowness", they can be directed to download these test cases, to accurately gauge their computer's performance against a known quantity?

If no downloadable performance benchmark objects exist, PTC should provide some, varying from simple to impossibly complex and slow to render.

Hi,

try www.proesite.com.

There is a possibility to benchmark Pro/E.

It's only available for Wf2-4. Maybe it works also on Wf5.

It's a trail file which runs different operations in Pro/E. While processing it counts the seconds per operation.

So you can compare your results to other machines.

It's a good idea. You have a lot of questions like 'my Pro/E is too slow' or 'poor graphics performance'.

While running without any config you can exclude the influence of different options.

But if someone is asking about performance the hardware should be specified. So it's easier to answer.
