ProE delays on big working directories

Hello all,

we are facing the following strange behavior.

We are running 3 licenses of ProE (WF 4 M140) without intralink or any
other PDM system. We are storing our models on a NAS file server and
the users work exclusively there.

What we have noticed is that the performance of ProE (eg regeneration
time) depends on the number of files that the working directory holds.

To be more specific I will give you an example.

* I have opened a very simple model with two features, a protrusion
and a cut
* I set the working directory to a folder that is empty
o I suppress the cut and then resume it. The regeneration
time for the resume is some tenths of a second
* Now I set the working directory to a folder that holds about 5000
ProE files
o Again I suppress the cut and then resume it. The
regeneration time for the resume is almost 4 seconds !!!

As you can understand this issue is very annoying and reduces our
productivity significantly. Do you have any idea about this? Are there
any of you having the same problem?

I have to point out also, that this is not something new and is not
related to WF4. ProE WF2 and 3 have the same problems.

Thank you very much in advance for your assistance.

What do you have regen_backup_dir set to? If it is the working directory you will have a lot of network traffic slowing Pro/E down when you work on the network. Set it to your local hard drive. I have Pro/E write all it's garbage files to C:\temp\temp

I set the option regen_backup_dir to c:\temp. I also emptied this
directory.
But again I have the same delays.
