This doesn't answer your question, it's just FYI purpose but probably working in assembly environment using WF5.0 would be better, it means that maybe you could do it via cutout, see the enhancement details:
Assembly Cut Enhancements
Switch between the simplified and advanced assembly cut environments by selecting or clearing a check box. Cut challenging geometry with the Check Geometry Option.
