Recently i was calculating surface area of a part which showed 3.687e+.03 . What does e and +.03 mean??

Scientific notation method of defining numbers so they are all 1 digit before the decimal point and the rest of the value after. You shift the decimal place by 3 (+.03) to the right to get your area of 3687.

Does it really have ".03"?  I'm used to seeing "e+03", but not the point...
