Relation in motion

Hello!

I would like to have a kinematic for telescopically boom of crane.

The boom has 2 moving sections. There is one cylinder on the section nr.1 (base to section nr.1). If this section moves the section nr. 2 has to move with the same way. Later this will be done by rope system.

As shown in the video, I need somehow to set relation between 1 and 2.

How can be done this?

Thank you in advance for some ideas!

Plamen

(I would like to say: I use motion sceleton. I'm not interested in mechanism. Please to not give me proposals for mechanism)

it is possible to do this with relations. You will need to define the equations of motion and then use them in relations. You may want to use conditional logic in the relations as well.

See the solution in this post below and it will give you an idea of one approach to do this. You would impose an input condition and then step the input value until a limit condition is reached (travel limit). You could use the logic reverse the motion as well back to the initial condition.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding, but you can get this to work by adding motion limits to the slider joint?

Ah, never mind; I was about to elaborate when I reread your post and the note that you are not interested in using mechanism functionality.

Why not?
