How can the part positions for an Exploded View in Parametric 2.0 be reset to a default position?
I have added some components to the assembly since the explosion was created and would like to be able to keep them aligned with other components that have already been exploded. Without knowing how far the existing components were moved during the explosion, I'm uncertain of a way to align the new components and keep the same relative positioning as in the un-exploded state.
The interface for setting a component back to the default position is a bit confusing in that you can't set components to their default positions in the dashboard interface where you move them. You have to do so in the view manager itself. Select the explode state that you want to modify, click the "Properties" button at the bottom, select the component you want to set to default and pick the "Remove" button.
this is the correct answer.. kind of a weird way.. but.. it is easy to do this. thank you
Mike, it sounds like you want the "copy position" command. It can be found in the "options" menu when editing an explode state.
With it you can move one or more parts so that they maintain their original/unexploded position relative to another component that has already been moved. In other words if you explode a bracket and forget to move its bolts at the same time, then this command lets you move the bolts to the same position as the already exploded bracket.
