SMART filter is not available after using modeling mode.

Good morning,
I have been running into this issue since going to Creo
Elements/Pro. When I am working in modeling mode, the Smart filter will be
shown and everything works correctly. But after creating new features and
editing old features maybe 10 minutes into working the Smart filter is
replace with Parts filter. I go up there to change the filter and no luck.
All the other filter options are available but Smart. I lose pre-selection
highlights so there is no way to know what I am selecting until I left mouse
button on the feature. I can't use right mouse button to query select or use
pick from list. The only way for me to get the Smart filter back is to close
the part and reopened the part up. Has anybody run into this issue? It
happens randomly, sometimes it will happen ten minutes into the part other
times hours. Also sometimes I will keep on going without the smart filter
and it will be automatically back on. I have no idea how that happens.

It sounds like your preselection highlighting is getting turned off. The smart filter is tied to that, I believe.



In WF5 or Creo Elements/Pro Look at edit > Select > Preferences and see if 'Preselection Highlighting' is checked.



I'm not sure how it would get turned off without you knowing it. Are you using any mapkeys that might do that? Loading supplemental config files?

It just happened again but when I check the Preselection highlighting and
click okay still not work. But if I go back in to Selection Preferences
dialog box it is unchecked again. I can not get ProE to accept the check in
Selection Preferences.

I am on Windows 7 64 bit Creo elements/pro 5.0 M190 is has happened since
going to the earlier builds of 5.

Strange thing is if I keep working with the preselection highlighting off
after a while Pro will do a hard crash and if I forgot to save then SOL.
Thanks PTC for the built in resume after a crash that really does nothing.
