Variable Pattern Along Curve

Hi all,

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can create a pattern where each instance varies in distance from the last instance but also tie it to a sketched curve?

The final pattern will be some eliptical shapes that differ in size and angle as they sweep along the curve but for the time being Im just working on some tests. I can see how to utilise pattern tables and this looks really helpful but I cant seem to link it to a curve to create the type of final pattern shape Im after.

Any suggestions are most welcome....

If your sketch of the "to-be-varied" elliptical shape is tied to a point placed on a sketched curve, then you can pattern your instances and vary each according to the distance along the curve.

In this example here:

1. A sketch of an ellipse is made on an internal plane that is normal to the guide curve and which goes through an internal datum point placed along the guide curve.

2. The sketch is then patterned based on dimension increments (the size and the angle of the ellipse instances are being varied). And the spacing of the ellipses along the curve is varied according to pattern increment relation.

However, you mentioned use of table patterns - in that case, this "distance along the curve" dimension would become another column in your table.
