Previous functionality had a "Reset Component Position" (I don't remember the exact menus) which allowed you to reset the explode position of one component. It put the component back to the unexploded position without changing its explode state.
I just assembled a small component into a Creo 9 assembly, which, in the exploded view is off into space somewhere. Of course, that destroys drawing views, detail views, etc..
I have run into this many times in the past. PTC tech support is useless on the subject. Often I just have to create a new explode state to make it work right - without a bunch of useless moves which mess up explode lines and require a ton of work on the drawings. This all seems so ridiculous. Where did it go?
Does anyone know where PTC has buried this very useful functionality? The UI fails the intuitive test, for both me and PTC tech support. PTC support documents are useless as usual.
This document says "Reset" but I don't see the menu. The only hint I have is the r11 in the URL, which might mean they failed to include the function in 9? https://support.ptc.com/help/creo/creo_pma/r11.0/usascii/index.html#page/detail/To_Create_an_Exploded_View.html Of course they don't say what Creo version the document applies to, or if this references previous versions before they took the function out. Nor does the page say anything more about what it says is a "Reset" menu item.
Is anyone familiar with this function and where it is hidden? Perhaps I am blind, but I can't find it.

Once you are in edit position as shown by Martin.
You can also click on the part in the tree and then click the icon circled in red.
Hi,
in Assembly mode use Edit Position command.
Then select component, press RMB and apply Toggle Explode command.
Once you are in edit position as shown by Martin.
You can also click on the part in the tree and then click the icon circled in red.
Thank you very much for the response, both @MartinHanak , @Dale_Rosema and @kdirth . I appreciate your input. Thank you for showing me.
I could not figure out why you were telling me to toggle explode, because I want it to explode, and the toggle means don't allow it. Well, I get it now.
To PTC, let me get this straight. We are to toggle the explode status - telling it DO NOT allow this component to explode, then just move it anyway? Tell it no to mean yes - who thought that was intuitive?
Well, it works, and for that I am grateful to know, but chalk one more up to the worst UI ever.
Funny thing, after a few rounds with PTC Tech Support on this issue months ago, they told me it was not possible. Pretty sad when your UI is so bad that even your own "experts" can't figure it out. @MartinHanak , @Dale_Rosema , @kdirth are obviously next level to see beyond the UI.
In the View Manager, select the explode state and select Properties button at the bottom.
Find the desired part in the list and select it. The third button at the top will temporarily unexplode it. The remove button at the bottom will remove the explode state and place it back at the original position from where you can define a new explode.
Also, while editing the explode state, you can use copy position in the Options tab to move it to the same position as another part.
Thank you @kdirth . This also works fine for me. Kinda weird that it is not in the window where you actually work with the explode components, but it works, Thank You.
