How to rename multiple part files simultaneously, which are used in 60 assemblies.
Without PDM.
You will need to have all 60 assemblies open (in session), then rename the selected parts (in session and on disk), then go through and re-save each of the 60 assemblies. Make sure if you have drawings of these specific parts that you have them open as well.
If you don't have sufficient resources to open all the assemblies at once, you can isolate a few of the assemblies at a time. You will just end up having to do the rename over and over again and then in the end eliminate all but one copy of each of the renamed objects.
That's a painful challenge indeed. I might suggest that if you have to do this in steps, use the rename on the component but don't change the versions on disk. If you do this serially, this shouldn't matter.
Open one assembly. Open the component. Rename the component (in session only). Close the component. Activate the assembly. Save the assembly. Clear memory. Open the next assembly. <repeat>
For 60 parts, a mapkey may be helpful.
Be sure to back up all your assemblies and components that are being changed before attempting this.
