cannot show dimensions on drawing

All,

We are using WF5.0 build M050. We are fairly new to WF5. Anyway, I have 2 different people on 2 different computers on 2 different models and drawings that cannot get a dimension to show on the drawing. The dimension is in the models but does not appear in the selection list for showing annotations. There are no ereased views in either drawing. If a different drawings are created the dimensions work as expected and can be shown with no problem. Any ideas?

Our temporary solution is creating a note and getting the dimension by making the note say "&Dxx".

I am on WF5 M040, and haven't seen this particular problem, although I have many others relating to the improved ribbon interface.

My first guess is that somehow the dim is not able to be shown normal to any of the current views on your drawing. Secondly check to see of the feature or the sketch for the feature is not 'Hidden'. The hidden items will show up in the model tree as greyed out.

It's weird because the hidden items will not hide the 3D geometry, but will make the features not able to be selected....

Just my $0.02...

check the following:

  • If You search for the dimension, do You get a result? (Try in drawing and model)
  • Is the feature itself or the dimension on a layer? If yes, is it blanked in the model or the drawing? Check if drawing views have independent layer settings. Are layer settings in the model and the drawing independent?
  • Is the dimension really not used anywhere? Check all sheets, maybe it is used in a note?
  • Is the view which is supposed to show the dimension really properly oriented? (remember, only dimensions which are coplanar to the drawing sheet can be shown)
  • Just to make sure: Is the model which contains the dimension active in the drawing?
