cutting of solid part with surface

Hi,

I have a solid part and I wants to cut that part in certain pieces.

For the cutting I have a surface.

How to cut that solid with surface

I know one method to cut is

Click on the solidify and select remove.

Is this the appropriate method to do.

That's the only way, really. You can use an extrude feature and cut up to the surface, but that only uses the surface as the termination for the cut rather than cutting away the entire shape of the surface.

What If I want to do the same in assembly.

Means I want to cut the assemble with certain profile of surface

You should be able to extrude a solid cut up to a quilt or surface. If the cut is linear and normal to a possible sketch plane, then you can also use the surface/quilt edge as a projection feature in the solid cut sketch.

I guess it all depends on the application.
