difference between BMx and MDx

Hi,

I'm wondering what are the differences between Bahavioral modeling and Mechanism Dynamics.
I din't find clear answer on Ptc website.

BMX is the Behavioral Modeling Extension and can be used to perform sensitivity studies or optimizations using parameters or dimensions as inputs and anything measurable as outputs. It can be used in regular assembly or part mode, or in a mechanism.


MDX is the Mechanism Dynamics Extension which adds to the built-in Mechanism Design capabilities. It allows for evaluation of forces and other "dynamic" properties of a mechanism. You might use BMX and MDX together or separately. This is also called MDO (Mechanism Dynamics Option)

I believe the information on MDX in the PTC site especially, is
misleading and refers mostly to MDO (Mechanism Dynamics Option).

Unless things have changed, MDX, included in the Foundation packages,
allows definition and analysis of an assembly's KINEMATIC behaviour:
things like movement, ranges of motion, interference, etc.

It's the optional MDO that will allow DYNAMIC analyses: friction,
inertia, forces, etc.

Of course I may be completely off course...

it seems that mdx is not included in basic package.
as you can see there :

It seems as if PTC are using MDX and MDO for what used to be different
packages, but now seem to differ only in the fact that one is an
extension and another is a floating option.

Still, it seems that Mechanism Design (Kinematics) is available in the
base packages as it was in the Foundation packages, and now MDX
(Dynamics) is available in the more advanced packages.
