erase not displayed not working on 12 gig assembly

I got a crazy user trying to put together the top level assembly.
Its coming up very large and when he tries to use erase not displayed for
suppressed or simp reped out items, it does not work.

I tried to teach him a thing or two on remote desktop, only to find out
that he was right. I was able to run it for simplified rep-out items but
when I suppressed items it did not work. It says it did something but we
do not see the pick list showing all the items currently suppressed that
will be removed.

The items are used 1 time in 1 assembly that is the only assembly open. I
tried to see if he had a drawing or such open.

Any ideas? Is this a "only on wednesdays under full moon at exactly 3.23432
gigs" type of thing? Does pro/e just give up erasing at certain levels of
memory usage?

Which version and M-release of ProE or Creo are you on?
