I am just putting this out there to see if anyone else has been noticing that anything that seems to check references, especially using "edit references" has become ridiculously slow in the latest releases (Creo 8, 9). In a 300 feature model, half of the time it can take up to 15min for it to display the dialog box with the references. This generally happens when there is sometimes only 2 or 3 references, and the CPU isn't even being taxed at all... generally 6-7%. My drive is an SSD, and the files are local; so I can rule out anything to do with the network. It just seems like a massive bug; amongst others ones that were introduced that have made core functionality a terrible experience.
The reference viewer also seems to extremely slower compared to Creo version 6.
8 and 9 seem to be some of the worst releases with regards to core functionality in a long time.
Same issue here.
same for us with creo 11.0.4.0
were there any findings you had?
Part model with 851 features in Creo 9.0.8.0. No noticeable delay using edit references on features. Reference viewer opens slower than edit features UI but it is only about 2 seconds max upon the first request to invoke the viewer.
Creo 10.0.9.0 using the same model. No noticeable delay using edit references or invoking the reference viewer.
Have you found it is model specific or across all files?
Support was able to resolve the issue by having me rename the .wf folder which resolved the issue. All of my UX tweaks were reset to default, but the "edit references" tool was snappy and usable. I just renamed the folder to .wf.old so it would recreate the .wf folder but so that I could also revert back to the old one incase there was an issue with the new one.
That would be a corrupted .wf...or somehow compromised.
You can get around losing your UX tweaks by setting config.pro option
load_ui_customization_run_dir YES
This removes it from the .wf and in to your start-in directory
You could also just remember to copy out the .ui file prior to removing the .wf.
Thanks Stephen for the additional tips/info.
It was funny, because when I explained to the issue to tech support, just being that edit references was insanely slow; he instantly had me rename the .wf folder. So this must be somewhat of a known issue that it gets corrupted and causes issues for him to be that quick with an answer.
It was resolved, and I was satisfied with the resolution.
Oh, also, before someone else does this, MAKE SURE ALL YOUR WORK IS EITHER CHECKED IN OR AT LEAST UPLOADED to the server in windchill.
You would lose work if you deleted your .wf and files were not uploaded!
